FP 7th Grade Boys Basketball loses A and B Games to Jasper The 7th Grade Boys Basketball team traveled to Jasper on Tuesday evening to play the Wildcats. After a not-so-good game versus Perry Central on Saturday, Coach Hochgesang was hoping for a better game for the Rangers vs the Wildcats. FP came out flat again and was down 2-15 in the first quarter and 5-27 in the first half. Jasper ran man-to-man defense and the Rangers were unable to execute or remember their plays. Jasper also ran a ball screen motion, and the Rangers were unable to stay on the midline and help with the pick-and roll, so the Wildcats were able to get many easy layups. The second half started and the Rangers could not score. The third quarter ended 5-37. On the bright side, the Rangers were able to finish the game on a good note, scoring 6 points and only allowing Jasper to score 2 points. FP lost this game 11-39. The Rangers were able to beat Jasper in the turnovers category with the Rangers having 13 turnovers and the Wildcats having 14 turnovers. Scoring vs Jasper A: Blake Morrison : 5 points (1-2 FTs) Cash Lueken : 2 points Zander Reyling-Schwartz : 2 points Michael Christmas : 2 points The Forest Park Boys Basketball B team played right after the A game, and also did not start with a spark. The Rangers were held scoreless in the first quarter and found themselves down 0-5. After a few buckets by Jax Jacob, FP was down 6-15 in the first half. The second half started and the Rangers depended on Jax Jacob again to score the ball while baskets in the paint were hard to come by. Forest Park B was down 12-25 after the 3rd quarter. Again, the Rangers finished the game on a positive note, not allowing Jasper to score a point. FP sadly, was only able to score 3 points off of a Jax Jacob three pointer. The Rangers turned the ball over 9 times, which coach was happy with. It was a tough shooting night for the Rangers all together. Scoring vs Jasper B: Jax Jacob : 13 points (one 3-pointer) Cooper Wehr : 2 points The Rangers look to bounce back vs the Hatchets on Thursday when FP plays Washington at Home at 6pm.
