FP 7th Grade Boys lost to South Spencer 21-43 The Forest Park 7th Grade Boys Basketball team was back in action on Thursday evening at Reo vs the South Spencer Rebels. With their two point guards out due to injury, Blake Morrison and Luke Ebert, and also another forward out due to sickness, Declan Nord, the Rangers were shorthanded in this battle. The 1st quarter started slowly with both teams having trouble taking care of the ball. Michael Christmas was the only Ranger able to score in the first quarter with that ending 3-10. The 2nd quarter was a better scoring quarter for the Rangers, but was also a not-so-good defensive battle for FP. The Rangers got the score to 7-12 in the second quarter but then the Rebels went on a run. SS started the game in a 1-2-2 full court trapping defense, but the Rangers handle it pretty well. Then in the half court, the Rebels were in a high 2-3 the whole game. The 1st half ended 12-26. The 2nd Half started and the Rangers were able to hit two 3's in this quarter, but were unable to guard the Rebels quick guards. The 3rd quarter ended with the Rangers down 19-37. FP started the 4th quarter with a lot of layups/short shots, but they were unable to hit all of them besides one. The Rangers scored 2 points in the 4th quarter with Coach Hochgesang putting in all of his players from the bench. The Rangers lost this game 21-43, but Coach Hochgesang was pleased with their efforts and intensity. The 7th Grade boys were also able to take 2 charges, something Coach has been waiting for all season long! Scoring vs South Spencer: Michael Christmas : 6 points (2-4 FTs) Cash Lueken : 4 points Hunter Lange : 3 points (one 3-pointer) Cason Lubbehusen : 3 points (one 3-pointer) Zander Reyling-Schwartz : 3 points (one 3-pointer) Jarrett Verkamp : 2 points The Rangers do not play their next game until December 30th when they host their Dubois County Tournament at 9am in the PE Gym. Wish them Good Luck!
