8th Grade Lady Rangers @ Jasper (Jasper Tourney- Round 1) (30-28) Loss Quarter Scoring: Lady Rangers: 10-10-0-8 Jasper: 12-4-7-7 The Lady Rangers were sidelined for 10 days due to weather, then faced Jasper back-to-back at Jasper this time for the Jasper Tournament. Early on they struggled on defense and had trouble scoring — Forest Park shot 4-for-18 in the first quarter while Jasper went 6-for-8. Forest Park earned several offensive rebounds and had good looks inside but couldn’t convert. Offensively they improved slightly in the second quarter, raising their field-goal percentage from 22% to 29%, and held the Lady Wildcats to four points. The third quarter, however, started poorly: the Lady Rangers failed to score and missed more than ten shots before finally converting in the fourth, by which time they trailed by eight. They chipped away in the fourth, fighting possession by possession and recording four steals to create a chance to take the lead. In the final minutes a three-pointer made it 28–29. After a foul, Jasper went 1-for-2 at the line to lead 30–28. The Rangers had one last shot that didn’t fall. It’s not the ending the team wanted, but they battled to the final buzzer and have a lot to be proud of.
