The Forest Park Rangers opened their first road trip of the season on Friday but fell to Bloomington South, 12-1. Forest Park struck first in the opening inning, as Hudson King lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home the game’s first run and give the Rangers an early 1-0 lead. Bloomington South responded quickly, capitalizing on a Ranger error in the bottom half of the inning to even the score. They then took control in the second, using a sacrifice fly to move ahead 2-1, and added another run in the third to extend their lead. The game broke open in the fifth inning, when Bloomington South erupted for eight runs on a series of timely hits, including a three-run home run that put the game out of reach. Despite the final score, the Rangers showed flashes early and competed at the plate. Jared Burger, Jaxon Lueken, Hudson King, and Camron Lueken each recorded a hit, with King driving in the team’s lone run. On the mound, Jaxon Lueken struck out four over three innings of work. Forest Park will look to regroup quickly as they continue their road swing with a matchup at Brownstown Central against Edgewood on Saturday.
