The Forest Park JV Rangers battled all night and out-hit Perry Central, but couldn’t quite capitalize in a 6-4 loss on Monday. Forest Park finished with seven hits compared to Perry Central’s four, showing early signs of a lineup that can consistently put the ball in play. Reid Fleck led the way with two hits, helping spark multiple scoring chances throughout the game. Perry Central struck first in the opening inning, taking advantage of early opportunities to grab a quick 2-0 lead. The Rangers answered in the second inning with energy and execution. Griffen Haas delivered a run-scoring single to center, and Trevor James followed with another RBI knock to give Forest Park a 3-2 lead. Perry Central responded in the third inning, using a key double and a productive out to regain the lead at 4-3. They would add insurance runs later to hold off the Rangers down the stretch. On the mound, Haas gave Forest Park a strong effort in relief. He worked five innings, allowing just two runs while striking out nine. Offensively, Forest Park showed aggression on the bases, swiping six stolen bases. Fleck and Rylan Fletcher each recorded multiple steals, putting constant pressure on Perry Central’s defense. James, Haas, Cohen Hoppenjans, and Aiden Lubbers each drove in a run as the Rangers spread out their production. Despite the loss, the Rangers showed plenty of positives: timely hitting, and aggressive baserunning. With continued focus on execution in key moments, this group is trending in the right direction.
