Forest Park was just a few outs away from a key road win Tuesday night, but a late push from Gibson Southern led to a 4-3 loss in a hard-fought conference matchup. Forest Park came out strong, getting on the board in the first inning when Jared Burger launched a solo home run to left field to give the Rangers an early 1-0 lead. After Gibson Southern tied things up in the second, the Rangers responded in the third. Jaxon Lueken delivered an RBI single to regain the lead, and Grant Fleck added to the momentum with an aggressive steal of home to put Forest Park up 3-1. Gibson Southern chipped away and eventually took the lead in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a fielder's choice and a Ranger error to go ahead 4-3. Despite the setback, five different Rangers recorded hits, and the team continued to apply pressure offensively throughout the game. On the mound, Hudson King delivered a solid outing, going five innings and allowing just two earned runs while keeping the Rangers in control for much of the night. Forest Park will look to bounce back on Friday as they travel to Southridge.
