The Forest Park JV Rangers put together their most complete performance of the young season Saturday morning, rolling past Tecumseh 16-5 in a five-inning contest. After Tecumseh took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, the Rangers wasted no time responding. Forest Park answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, taking advantage of a walk by Cohen Hoppenjans and aggressive baserunning to jump in front for good. The Rangers continued to apply pressure in the second inning, adding another run to extend the lead before breaking the game wide open in the third. Forest Park erupted for seven runs in the inning, capitalizing on timely hits and defensive miscues. Jarrett Dixon and Luke Meunier each delivered key RBI singles, while Reid Fleck added a run after being hit by a pitch. Forest Park kept the momentum rolling in the fourth inning, tacking on five more runs to put the game out of reach. Hoppenjans and Cash Laake each drove in runs, and the Rangers continued to force mistakes with their aggressive style of play. On the mound, Fleck earned the win, going 2 2/3 innings while allowing three runs (two earned) and striking out three. Griffin Haas added a solid relief appearance to help close things out. Offensively, the Rangers showed balance throughout the lineup. Haas, Dixon, and Meunier each recorded two hits, while Laake led the team with three RBIs. With contributions up and down the lineup, this was a clear step forward for Forest Park as they continue to build early in the season.
