The Forest Park JV Rangers came out aggressive Friday night but couldn’t hold the early lead in a 6-3 loss at Northeast Dubois. The Rangers struck first in the opening inning. Cohen Hoppenjans worked a walk to bring in a run, and Reid Fleck followed with an RBI double down the line to give Forest Park a quick 2-0 lead. Northeast Dubois answered right away, putting up three runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead back. They added two more in the second to stretch it to 5-2. Forest Park kept battling. Cash Laake led the way at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2, while the Rangers as a team showed great patience, drawing nine walks. They also stayed aggressive on the bases, swiping six bags and continuing to apply pressure throughout the game. Haas got the start on the mound, striking out four over two innings. The Rangers didn’t go away, but couldn’t find the big hit late to close the gap. Even in the loss, Forest Park showed energy, discipline at the plate, and aggressiveness on the bases, signs of a team that keeps competing.
