The Forest Park Rangers battled back late Thursday night but came up just short in a 6-5 loss to Tecumseh. Forest Park struck first in the opening inning when Riley Begle delivered an RBI single to give the Rangers an early lead. Tecumseh answered quickly in the bottom half of the inning, scoring twice to move in front 2-1. The Braves continued to build their lead over the next few innings, adding runs in the second and third to take a 4-1 advantage. Forest Park later found itself trailing by four runs before beginning a late comeback effort. Forest Park made things interesting in the seventh inning when King launched a three-run home run to right field, cutting the deficit to just one run. The rally gave the Rangers a chance late, but Tecumseh was able to hold on for the win. The Rangers put pressure on Tecumseh throughout the game, finishing with 10 hits. Carter Jochem led the way with three hits, while Hudson King added two hits and drove in three runs from the middle of the lineup. Jared Burger and Grant Fleck also recorded multiple hits for Forest Park. Forest Park will return home Saturday to take on Jasper. Before the game, the Rangers will celebrate seniors Grant Fleck, Jaxon Lueken, and Jared Burger. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team and recognize the senior class.
