The Forest Park Rangers picked up an exciting 6-5 win over Jasper on Saturday, earning the program’s first victory over the Wildcats since 2016. Jasper struck first in the opening inning with an RBI single, but the Rangers answered quickly in the bottom half. Forest Park took advantage of a Jasper error before Camron Lueken added a sacrifice fly to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead. The Rangers added another run in the second inning when Jaxon Lueken drove in a run to extend the advantage to 3-1. Jasper battled back in the fourth inning, using a pair of RBI singles to regain the lead at 4-3. Forest Park answered again in the fifth, capitalizing on two Jasper errors to move back in front 5-4. The Wildcats tied the game once more in the sixth inning after a bases-loaded walk made it 5-5. In the bottom half of the inning, the Rangers delivered the deciding moment. Lueken came through with an RBI single to score the go-ahead run and give Forest Park a 6-5 lead they would not surrender. Lueken also led the Rangers offensively with two hits while turning in a strong outing on the mound. The senior struck out eight batters over four and two-thirds innings, battling through traffic on the bases and keeping the Rangers within reach throughout the game. Hudson King came on in relief and delivered key outs late to help secure the win. Forest Park played solid defense throughout the game and did not commit an error. The win made Senior Day even more memorable as the Rangers honored Grant Fleck, Jaxon Lueken, and Jared Burger before the game. Forest Park will return to action Tuesday against Princeton.
