The Forest Park JV Rangers built an early lead Thursday night and held on late to knock off Southridge 6-5. The Rangers got rolling right away in the first inning when Jarrett Dixon drove in the game’s first run with a single. Forest Park added more pressure in the second. Carter Becher and Trevor James each came through with RBI singles as the Rangers stretched the lead and kept the momentum on their side. By the fifth inning, Forest Park had built a five-run advantage, but Southridge made things interesting late with a rally to close the gap. The Rangers stayed composed and finished the job. Reid Fleck was strong on the mound, earning the win after throwing five innings and striking out six. Jace Brockman came in late and shut the door to pick up the save. At the plate, Forest Park pounded out 10 hits. Dixon, James, and Fleck each collected two hits, while James led the Rangers with two RBIs. Forest Park also stayed aggressive on the bases, swiping six stolen bases. Fleck led the way with three steals. Defensively, the Rangers added a double play to help slow down the Southridge rally. After building the lead early, Forest Park showed toughness late and found a way to finish off a hard-fought win.
