The Forest Park Rangers continued their strong start to the season Saturday, controlling the game from start to finish in a dominant 9-0 victory over the Wood Memorial Trojans. Forest Park controlled possession and consistently applied pressure throughout the match, but the Rangers initially had trouble finding the back of the net despite generating several early scoring opportunities. The breakthrough finally came 23 minutes into the contest when Luke Meunier found Gabe Schemenaur, who finished the opportunity to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Forest Park wasted little time adding another. Less than a minute later, Hunter Osborne connected with Lucas Dooley, who buried the Rangers' second goal to push the advantage to 2-0. With 10 minutes remaining in the opening half, Osborne got his own name on the scoresheet, extending the Forest Park lead to 3-0. The Rangers' defense was equally impressive in the opening half, limiting Wood Memorial's offensive opportunities. Goalkeeper Dexter Meyer recorded one save before the halftime whistle as Forest Park carried its 3-0 advantage into the break. The second half began much like the first ended, with the Rangers immediately applying pressure and attacking the Trojans' defense. Just two minutes into the second half, Schemenaur scored his second goal of the game, making it 4-0. Five minutes later, Meunier found the net for the second time, giving Forest Park a 5-0 advantage just seven minutes into the half. The Rangers continued to pour on the pressure. Ten minutes into the half, Dominic Schemenaur converted a penalty kick, extending the lead to 6-0. Just minutes later, Osborne fired home a long-range effort for his second goal of the afternoon, pushing the Rangers' advantage to 7-0. Forest Park wasn't finished. In the 15th minute of the second half, Schemenaur completed his hat trick, finding the back of the net for the third time and giving the Rangers an 8-0 lead. With 12 minutes remaining in the half, Aiden Lubbers added the final goal of the afternoon, putting Forest Park ahead 9-0. The Rangers maintained control through the final whistle to secure the shutout victory. Forest Park's offensive attack was led by Schemenaur's three goals, while Meunier and Osborne each added two. Dooley, Dominic Schemenaur and Lubbers also found the scoresheet in the nine-goal performance. The Rangers will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Evansville Day.
