Junior High Boys Soccer Travels to Heritage Hills

By Molly Cummings | Aug 31, 2026 12:01 PM

On Friday, August 28th, the Junior High Boys JV Soccer team played Heritage Hills on the Heritage Hills High School game field. Joshua Parra scored the Rangers opening goal with the assist going to Sebastian Sicard. Then, late in the first half, the Rangers scored from a corner kick. Sicard played the ball short to Parra, who drew a defender then played the ball back to Sicard. Sicard drove towards goal and found Felix Schmuecker in space at the top of the eighteen. Schmuecker struck the ball well into the net to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead going into halftime. Heritage Hills tied the game early in the second half, but the Rangers responded quickly with goals from Sebastian Sicard and Joshua Parra. The Patriots scored again to bring the game to 4-3 and created numerous opportunities late in the game but could not find the equalizer. The Rangers held on for a 4-3 victory. The Forest Park varsity team played after the JV game. The atmosphere felt like a High School game with a well-attended crowd and the hosts announcing starting lineups and announcing each assist and goal. Heritage Hills scored first on a free kick to take a 1-0 lead. Forest Park tied the game late in the first half when Sam Ernst took the ball down the right side, found Blake Morrison in the box, who then found Clark Welp at the back post for a great team goal. Zach Cummings broke the 1-1 tie early in the second half with a truly solo goal. He won the ball about 80 meters from the goal, drove pass seven or eight defenders and struck the ball over the goalie’s head from about 25 meters out. Heritage Hills then scored three quick goals to take a two-goal lead. The Rangers kept their heads and found another goal from a corner kick when Brennan Grissom won the ball and fired a shot into a dangerous spot. A Patriots defender tried to clear the ball but sent it into the goal instead. The Rangers had a few opportunities to tie late in the game, but Heritage Hills managed the clock well late in the game and held on to their 4-3 win.
