FP Boys Tennis Loses Close One to Heritage Hills 2-3 The Forest Park Boys Tennis team was in action on Tuesday night at their home courts. The match was previously scheduled for a 5pm start, but with the heat both schools decided to push it back to 7pm. With that being the case, there were no JV matches. The Rangers Singles guys battled to win two matches, but the doubles struggled to get any momentum. FP ended up losing to PAC foe Heritage Hills 2-3, but Coach Hochgesang was pleased with the fight from his 2S and 3S. Jace Brockman stayed at 1S and knew coming in that this would be a very tough match vs a great senior in Riehle. Jace hit some great shots, but it always seemed that Riehle got to every ball and put it in an even better spot. Jace showed some fight, but was just not able to get over the hump in any of his games. Miles Rea stayed at 2S vs a powerful Senior in Mitchell. Both Mitchell and Rea had very similar play styles. Rea knew coming into this match after a close battle loss last year that he could beat him. With his confidence and determination, Miles battled as the last match of the night. After 2.5 hours of hitting great serves, moving the ball with great pace, and hitting good volleys, Miles was able to win the second set tiebreaker and finish the job. Coach Hochgesang was very proud of Miles and could tell that Miles gave it his absolute all. Trey Benton stayed at 3S and played another Freshman. This was a dog fight as both boys had good shots and games that went to deuce a lot. Trey was able to squeak by in the first set in a tiebreaker, and then ran out of gas in the second set. Coach Hochgesang talked to Trey before the 3rd set 10-point tiebreaker and said "Give me everything you got in this tiebreaker. I believe in you and know you can win this!" Trey came out a little sluggish but kicked it into gear after the switchover. Trey battled and came up with win. 1 Doubles was Eli and Clayton. Both sets started close with the Rangers up 2-1 in the second set, but FP lost the next 5 games. The 1D duo was not able to win games with the lead and that is what gave them struggles. 2 Doubles was Jace Betz and Drew Fischer. The 2D pair struggled with unforced errors and giving the HH net guys confidence and easy volleys. Saw some great lobs by Drew, but overall a struggle by both 1 & 2 Doubles. Varsity Scores vs HH : 1 Singles: Jace Brockman lost to B. Riehle 0-6, 0-6 2 Singles: Miles Rea beat N. Mitchell 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) 3 Singles: Trey Benton beat O. Seifert 7-6 (7-3), 0-6, 10-7 1 Doubles: Eli Brockman & Clayton Roesner lost to L. Prior & M. Meyer 2-6, 2-6 2 Doubles: Jace Betz & Drew Fischer lost to D. Paulin & Z.
