Forest Park Boys Tennis Loses 2-3 to Evansville Central The Forest Park Boys Tennis team was supposed to travel to Evansville Central on Thursday evening, but with the heat and Central not having lights, the teams decided to play this match at FP. This match started at 7pm and was a battle the whole way through. With Central not being in the PAC Conference, Coach Hochgesang wanted to mix up the lineup to see different options. Jace Brockman, at 1 Singles, battled with an experienced Senior. Jace started the match with confidence and up 3-2. He was able to return many balls in long rallies and frustrated his opponent. Brockman lost the first set, and was trying to battle in the second set. The score got to 2-5 in Central's favor, and Central's 1S became sick. After an illness timeout, Central's player came back out on the court and beat Jace. The two matches that Jace has played this week have been a learning lesson for him. Miles Rea, at 2 Singles, also battled with an experienced Senior. Miles cruised through the first set pretty comfortably but then struggled in the second set. Miles found himself down 0-5 in the second set, and Coach Hochgesang told him to calm down and play one game at a time. Rea was able to battle back and make it 4-5, but lost the next game. Miles played a 10-point 3rd-set tiebreaker and cruised through that easily. Parker Schnarr, at his first Varsity 3 Singles match, also battled an experienced Senior. Coach Hochgesang wanted to give Parker some experience at Singles on Varsity. Parker started his first set down 1-2, but struggled against a talented player in Centrals 3S. Coach Hochgesang has seen such an improvement since Parker first got to practice and continues to give Parker confidence no matter what his match scores end at. Normal 3S player Trey Benton joined Eli Brockman at 1 Doubles. The Freshman and Senior duo struggled to get comfortable with each other in the first set and lost, but found themselves up 4-1 in the second set. Things went downhill real quick after that. Clayton Roesner and Drew Fischer played at 2 Doubles and battled the whole way through. This duo played a lot of matches together last year and it showed here and there vs Central. The 2 Doubles pair was able to win in the 3rd set tiebreaker. Varsity Scores vs Evansville Central: 1 Singles: Jace Brockman lost to Lequatte 3-6, 2-6 2 Singles: Miles Rea beat Hoover 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 3 Singles: Parker Schnarr lost to W. Plisky 1-6, 1-6 1 Doubles: Eli Brockman and Trey Benton lost to Ungethiem & S. Plisky 3-6, 4-6 2 Doubles: Clayton Roesner and Drew Fischer beat Guin & Trautvetter 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 The Rangers have a doubleheader at Tell City on Saturday morning vs Tell City and Mount Vernon. FP looks to bounce back from two tough matches this week and get two W's vs PAC foes. Wish them good luck!
