The Forest Park Rangers ran into a strong Washington Hatchets squad Tuesday night, as the Hatchets controlled the match from the opening whistle and handed the Rangers a 7-0 defeat. Forest Park entered the contest ranked No. 8 in Class 1A, while Washington came in ranked No. 16 in Class 2A. The Hatchets wasted little time establishing control, scoring two early goals to set the tone for the remainder of the match. Despite Washington's early pressure, Rangers goalkeeper Dexter Meyer kept Forest Park within striking distance throughout the opening half. Meyer recorded eight saves before halftime as the Hatchets consistently tested the Forest Park defense. Offensively, the Rangers struggled to generate opportunities against the Washington defense, managing just three shots in the opening 40 minutes. Washington carried its 2-0 advantage into halftime. The Hatchets came out of the halftime break with the same intensity, extending their lead to 3-0 early in the second half. Washington continued to apply pressure and eventually found the back of the net four more times to close out the match with a 7-0 victory. Forest Park struggled to find much offensive activity in the second half, recording four shots, while Meyer and Anstin Vonderheide combined for four additional saves in goal. The loss moves the Rangers to 5-3 on the season. Forest Park will look to bounce back Thursday night when the Rangers return home for a Pocket Athletic Conference matchup against Boonville.
