The Forest Park Rangers responded to Tuesday night's loss with a dominant performance Thursday night, defeating the Boonville Pioneers 5-1. The Rangers came out firing from the opening whistle and never looked back, improving to 6-3 on the season. Forest Park wasted no time finding the back of the net. Just three minutes into the match, Parker Wolf collected a loose ball in the box and calmly slotted it past the Boonville keeper for his second goal of the season, giving the Rangers an early 1-0 lead. Wolf continued his outstanding start to the match in the 12th minute, connecting with a corner kick from Hunter Osborne to record his second goal of the night. The brace put Forest Park ahead 2-0 and gave the Rangers the early momentum they were looking for. The Pioneers, however, were not going down without a fight. Boonville began to take control of possession during the middle portion of the first half and eventually found the back of the net with 20 minutes remaining before halftime, cutting the Rangers' lead to 2-1. Late in the opening half, Forest Park regained its rhythm and began to apply the pressure that had defined the early stages of the match. That pressure paid off with just over a minute remaining before halftime, as junior Trevor James found the back of the net to extend the Rangers' advantage to 3-1. Forest Park recorded nine shots in the first half, while goalkeeper Dexter Meyer made one save to help preserve the two-goal lead heading into the break. The Rangers carried their momentum into the second half, continuing to control possession and create scoring opportunities. Nine minutes into the half, Gabe Schemenaur converted a penalty kick to make it 4-1. The penalty was awarded after Hunter Osborne was fouled inside the box. As the match progressed, Forest Park continued to look for opportunities to possess the ball and build its attack, while the Pioneers worked to climb back into the contest. Boonville managed five second-half shots, forcing one save from Meyer and one from Anstin Vonderheide. The Rangers added one final goal with eight minutes remaining when Bryant Cooper claimed a bouncing ball inside the box and managed to slide it into the net, sealing the 5-1 victory. The win was a strong response from Forest Park following Tuesday night's defeat and showcased the Rangers' ability to create chances, capitalize on opportunities, and finish the match with confidence. Forest Park moves to 6-3 on the season and will return to action Saturday morning when the Rangers travel to face another PAC opponent, Pike Central.
