FP Boys Tennis Loses 2-3 to Tecumseh The Forest Park Boys Tennis team traveled to Tecumseh on Thursday evening to battle against the Braves. The Braves were undefeated going into this match, and they sadly stayed undefeated, but with a tough battle. The Rangers were able to win two positions but just couldn't break through in any of the other three positions. FP 1S Sophomore, Jace Brockman, had a lot of good points and games, but he was unable to make the sets close vs a very experienced senior at Tecumseh. Jace struggled with his lobbing, but had a lot of great strokes that looked like a 1 Singles player. Jace was disappointed in his game play after the match, but as a sophomore, Coach Hochgesang was happy to see his frustrations and his care for his game. FP 2S Sophomore, Miles Rea, had his forehand and volleys going in the first set. In the second set, Miles struggled a little but still comfortably won the match. FP 3S Freshman, Trey Benton, had a bounce back match vs Tecumseh's Freshman. With a great battle both ways, the 2 freshmen had long rallies and good strokes. Both sets ended in a close battle, but Trey was able to stay calm and win both sets. The second set kept flip flopping, but Trey was able to get it to a 6-6 seven point tiebreaker. Trey started the tiebreaker down 2-5 by playing not "Trey Benton tennis", but after some encouragement and him getting back to his game, Trey won 5 straight points to win 7-5. Coach was very happy to see Trey not give up, as he battled for the win. FP 1D Seniors, Eli Brockman and Clayton Roesner, started their first set great, but quickly lost their confidence. The FP pair lost the first set 5-7. The Ranger duo won the first game of the second set, but again fell to the Tecumseh Seniors. FP 2D Sophomores, Jace Betz and Drew Fischer, started the first set up 1-0, but then quickly lost the next 6 games. Jace and Drew struggled with Tecumseh's net presence and their own offensive net movements. Varsity Scores vs Tecumseh: 1S: Jace Brockman lost to D. Oxley 1-6, 3-6 2S: Miles Rea beat E. Wilson 0-6 1D: Preston Englert and Harrison Gutgsell lost to Butcher and Jenkins 2-6 2D: Colton Osborn and Zaden Fromme lost to Jimenez and Mutschler 1-6 The Rangers travel to Loogootee on Saturday morning for a 4-team tournament.
