The Forest Park Rangers overcame adversity Saturday morning, battling through an early struggle for possession and playing the majority of the second half a player down to secure a 5-2 victory over the Pike Central Chargers. The match began with both teams fighting to gain control, as neither side could establish consistent possession. The Rangers broke through in the 12th minute when Hunter Osborne delivered a low cross into the box, finding striker Trevor James, who calmly knocked the ball home to give Forest Park a 1-0 lead. Just 11 minutes later, Osborne and James connected again, repeating the combination to extend the Rangers' advantage to 2-0. Pike Central responded with nine minutes remaining in the first half, cutting the lead to 2-1 and showing they would not go away quietly. Forest Park answered quickly. Osborne found Parker Wolf with a corner kick, and Wolf finished the opportunity to restore the Rangers' two-goal advantage. Forest Park carried a 3-1 lead into halftime. The Rangers recorded five total shots in the first half, while goalkeeper Dexter Meyer made two saves. Early in the second half, Forest Park was dealt a significant blow when Osborne was sent off with a red card. The Rangers were forced to play the majority of the second half down a player as Pike Central looked to apply pressure and claw its way back into the match. Despite the disadvantage, Forest Park continued to find ways to attack. In the 10th minute of the second half, Lucas Dooley found Luke Meunier, who slotted home a long-range effort to push the Rangers' lead to 4-1. Pike Central responded just five minutes later with its second goal of the match, narrowing the deficit to 4-2. The Chargers' momentum, however, lasted only two minutes. Meyer launched a long ball over the top to James, who converted his opportunity to complete his hat trick and seal the victory for the Rangers. The final score finished 5-2. Forest Park improves to 7-3 on the season and will return to action Monday night when the Rangers host Northeast Dubois.
