The Forest Park Rangers continued their postseason run Thursday with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the Christian Academy of Indiana Warriors in the Regional Semifinal, earning a spot in Saturday afternoon’s Regional Final. The Rangers came out on the front foot from the opening whistle, immediately putting pressure on the Warriors’ defense and earning an early corner kick. Just three minutes into the match, junior Hunter Osborne delivered a cross into the box that bounced around in a scramble before senior Parker Wolf found the ball at his feet and buried it in the back of the net to give Forest Park a 1-0 lead. From there, the match turned into a physical track meet, with both teams battling for control and looking to take advantage of every opportunity. Neither side was able to find another goal in the opening half as the defenses stood firm. Both teams recorded numerous shots saves in the first half, with the Rangers carrying their 1-0 advantage into the halftime break. The Warriors returned from halftime determined to find an equalizer and came out applying plenty of pressure. Christian Academy of Indiana created several dangerous chances, testing the Rangers’ backline and goalkeeper Dexter Meyer. About eight minutes into the second half, Meyer came up with a diving save to deny the Warriors and preserve Forest Park’s narrow lead. Just one minute later, the Rangers delivered a crucial response. Senior Luke Meunier found fellow senior Gabe Schemenaur, who finished the opportunity to double the Rangers’ advantage and put Forest Park ahead 2-0. The physical, fast-paced battle continued as both teams pushed to find another goal. As the half wore on, the Rangers shifted toward a more defensive approach, determined to protect their two-goal cushion. The Warriors continued to apply pressure and search for a breakthrough, but Forest Park’s backline remained organized and committed, while Meyer stood tall between the posts. The Rangers refused to back down, battling through the Warriors’ late push to preserve the shutout and secure the 2-0 victory. With the win, Forest Park advances to the Regional Final on Saturday afternoon, moving one step closer to its ultimate postseason goal. The Rangers will look to carry their defensive determination and timely scoring into the next round as their tournament run continues.
