The Forest Park Rangers saw their quest to return to the IHSAA State Finals come up just short Saturday afternoon, falling to the Oldenburg Academy Twisters in a hard-fought semi-state matchup in Whiteland, Indiana. In a game defined by a battle for possession and contested attacking opportunities, a single goal late in the first half proved to be the difference. From the opening whistle, both teams battled for control in the midfield, with neither side able to establish consistent dominance. The Rangers and Twisters traded possession throughout the match, fighting to create quality scoring opportunities against two determined defenses. As the first half progressed, Forest Park continued to look for ways to break through the Oldenburg Academy defense. However, it was the Twisters who found the breakthrough, scoring late in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. The Rangers returned to the field in the second half determined to find an equalizer and keep their season alive. Forest Park continued to push forward, creating opportunities and applying pressure in search of the goal that would bring them level. Despite their efforts, the Twisters managed to hold their ground and protect their narrow advantage until the final whistle. Goalie Dexter Meyer recorded 5 massive saves to keep the Rangers withing striking distance. The Rangers finished the afternoon with 11 shots and 10 corner kicks, demonstrating their ability to create opportunities throughout the contest. The chances were there for Forest Park, but the finishing touch needed to find the back of the net never came. In a game where every opportunity mattered, the Twisters' lone goal ultimately made the difference. While the loss brings an end to the Rangers' season and their hopes of another trip to the State Finals, it does not diminish what this group has accomplished. Forest Park has enjoyed another remarkable postseason run, adding to a legacy of success that will be remembered for years to come. The conclusion of the season also means saying goodbye to a special senior class that helped Forest Park continue as one of Indiana's premier public small-school soccer programs. Gabe Schemenaur, Tucker Wathen, Luke Meunier, Layton Lubbehusen, and Parker Wolf leave behind an impressive legacy that includes three sectional championships, two regional championships, and one semi-state championship. Over the past four years, these five seniors have been instrumental in the Rangers' success, representing their school and community with pride. Their accomplishments on the field are a testament to their dedication, hard work, and commitment to the program. More importantly, the impact they have made on their teammates and the Forest Park soccer community extends far beyond the trophies and championships. Although the Rangers fell just short of their ultimate goal this season, this senior class leaves the program in a tremendous position for the future!
