Despite a spirited second-half comeback, the Forest Park Rangers fell just short Saturday in a 4-3 loss to Wood Memorial. The defeat drops the Rangers to 2-2 on the season. It was a tough start for Forest Park, who found themselves down early as Wood Memorial jumped out to a 1-0 lead. The Trojans continued to apply pressure, building a 2-0 advantage before the Rangers found the back of the net. Forest Park’s first-half response came courtesy of Lucas Dooley, who buried a header off a perfectly placed cross from Hunter Osborne, cutting the deficit to 2-1. But Wood Memorial wasn’t done, adding a third goal before the break to head into halftime with a 3-1 lead. The second half saw a different Rangers squad emerge. Hunter Osborne continued to make an impact, this time converting a free kick to bring the Rangers within one. The momentum continued when Luke Meunier slotted home the equalizer off an assist from Parker Wolf, tying the game 3-3 and setting the stage for a dramatic finish. However, Wood Memorial managed to break the deadlock once more, scoring the eventual game-winner with under eight minutes to play. Despite pushing forward in the final minutes, the Rangers couldn’t find a fourth goal to extend the match. Forest Park will look to bounce back on Tuesday night when they host Evansville Day School at 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park High School on the new Best Home Furnishing Turf Field.
