Forest Park Boys Tennis Beat Evansville Central 4-1 After a loss to a good team in Heritage Hills on Tuesday, the Forest Park Boys Tennis team had their second home match against Evansville Central on Thursday evening. The Rangers started off very sluggish in almost all of the matches beside 1 Doubles and 3 Singles. After losing the first set in the 2 Singles and 2 Doubles positions, Coach Hochgesang was starting to feel the pressure. FP was able to buckle down and kick it into gear for both second sets. Both coaches agreed to have a 10 point third set tiebreaker instead of a full 6 game third set because of travel time and both teams not being in the same conference. Eli Brockman had an off night at 1 Singles against a consistent Junior. Jace Brockman started his 2 Singles match with no energy and plenty of unforced errors, but played well in the second set to force a third set 10 point tiebreaker. Jace already playing two 10 point tiebreakers at the North Harrison Tournament ended up beating the Central Junior 10-6. Miles Rea at 3 Singles was able to coast in the first set, but struggled a little in the second set to another Junior. Miles picked up his play in the middle of the second set and won the match in 2 sets. Clayton Roesner and Jace Betz played 2 Doubles for the first time together against Central, and the first set showed the inexperience. Roesner and Betz were able to settle in after the not-so-good first set, and won a close second set. The 2 Doubles duo got themselves to the third set tiebreaker and found themselves down 3-6 to start. The 2D Rangers were able to battle back and win 7 of the last 8 points to win 10-7. The Forest Park 1 Doubles position was won by a pair of brothers, the Fischer boys! Alex and Drew played their first doubles match together as the lone Senior and Freshman pair took care of business in another third set tiebreaker. The 1 Doubles duo cruised through the first set, but Central was able to adjust and give the Rangers some fits in the second set. FP was able to win their 3rd 10 point tiebreaker as a team. The Rangers were able to get the job done against Central and look to continue this confidence into the weekend where they host Mount Vernon and Tell City on Saturday morning and afternoon. The Rangers look to get their record up to 5-2 by the end of the weekend. Wish them good luck!
