The Forest Park Rangers leaned on a strong defensive effort Thursday night to secure a 1-0 win over the Southridge Raiders in PAC conference action. The first half saw few clear chances as both teams battled for control in the midfield. Forest Park managed three shots, with one testing the Raiders’ goalkeeper, while Southridge matched with three of their own, forcing two saves from Rangers keeper Dexter Meyer. The deadlock carried into halftime at 0-0. The breakthrough came almost immediately after the restart. Just two minutes into the second half, Edgardo Zelaya slipped a perfectly timed through ball to Parker Wolf, who made no mistake as he buried the shot to give Forest Park the 1-0 lead. From there, the Rangers shifted to a defensive posture, registering just one more attempt on goal — a strike from Hunter Osborne. Southridge pressed hard for an equalizer, but Meyer came up huge, recording five saves in the second half alone to preserve the shutout. With the win, Forest Park improves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in PAC play. The Rangers will return to action Tuesday, September 9, when they are at Cedar Crest Intermediate School for a 6 p.m. kickoff against Washington.
