On Tuesday night, the Forest Park Rangers hosted PAC leaders Washington at Cedar Crest Intermediate in a conference showdown. Despite a resilient defensive effort, the Hatchets proved too much, earning a 3-0 victory. The first half was marked by Washington’s constant pressure, as the Hatchets tallied nine corner kicks and forced Rangers goalkeeper Dexter Meyer into six saves. The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Washington capitalized to take a 1-0 lead. The Rangers struggled to find rhythm offensively, managing just one shot in the opening period. Coming out of halftime, Washington picked up right where they left off, doubling their lead just three minutes into the second half. The Hatchets added their third and final goal in the 63rd minute to put the game out of reach. The Rangers showed more life offensively in the second half, generating four shots and two corner kicks, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Meyer added two more saves to his total, finishing with nine on the night. With the loss, Forest Park drops to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in PAC play. The Rangers will look to bounce back quickly as they travel to Booneville on Thursday for a 7:45 p.m. kickoff.
