The Forest Park Rangers held off a late push from Pike Central to secure a 3-2 victory Saturday morning at Forest Park High School, moving their season record to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in PAC play. The Rangers wasted no time setting the tone. Sophomore Hunter Osborne opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a strike from outside the box. Just four minutes later, Osborne turned provider, sending in a pinpoint cross that found the head of fellow sophomore Lucas Dooley for the second goal of the match. Forest Park dominated the remainder of the half, tallying seven more shots and earning five corners. Goalkeeper Dexter Meyer made two key saves to keep Pike Central off the scoreboard before halftime. The second half, however, swung quickly in favor of the Chargers. Pike Central stunned the home crowd with back-to-back goals in the 50th and 51st minutes to pull level at 2-2. Despite the setback, the Rangers regrouped and continued to press forward, racking up another seven shots and four corners. The breakthrough came in the 72nd minute when Osborne, delivered the game-winner for Forest Park. Meyer added one more save in the second half to help secure the win. With the victory, the Rangers gain momentum heading into Monday night’s non-conference clash on the road against Northeast Dubois.
