FP Boys Tennis Lost a Close Battle with North Posey 2-3 After two difficult away matches to start the week, the Rangers looked to secure a home victory vs a talented North Posey team. FP battled, but came up short vs a trio of good singles players. The Rangers are now 8-5 and look to bounce back against Washington on Senior Night on Tuesday evening! Both 1 and 2 Singles, led by FP Freshmen Miles Rea and Jace Brockman, had to go up against two experienced Seniors. In the end of both of their matches, the experience overtook the Freshmen's games. With both first sets not going very well, Miles and Jace both settled in a little bit and started to play better. Miles was able to get 2 games in the second set, and Jace was able to snag 4 games from Bittner. At 3 Singles was another FP Freshman, Jace Betz. Betz playing against another Freshman from NP, struggled against NP's great ball placement. Coach Hochgesang told all 3 of his Freshman Singles, that this match is only going to make them better for the future. Coach said "Yes, you boys got your butts kicked, but the strokes you are all starting to trust and hit, are improving each and every match. We just have to continue to get better, and not worry about the wins and losses." Forest Park was able to get both Doubles positions to win. The 1 Doubles dynamic duo of Alex Fischer and Eli Brockman struggled to start the first set but then kicked it into high gear and never looked back. After leading 4-3 in the first set, Alex and Eli started to get more comfortable and won straight games until the end. Coach told the two that it wasn't even their best match, and look what they did. The Rangers' 2 Doubles team had to battle very hard to secure their win. The duo of Drew Fischer and Clayton Roesner lost a close first set and then battled in the second set to force a full third set. Drew and Clayton won the second set 6-2 and then cruised in the third set 6-3 as well. Coach Hochgesang was very proud of the two for finally looking like a good pair. Coach told Drew that this match was definitely the most confident that he has seen him play. He also told Clayton that his volleys were a lot better than the last match he played. Even though the Rangers were not able to win this match as a team, Hochgesang was very proud of how the boys played overall and was proud to say that he thought they got better playing this tough North Posey team.
