FP Boys Tennis Lost a Close One on Senior Night 2-3 to Washington The Forest Park Boys Tennis team had their first match since Thursday of last week; this also was the first time being together as a team since that match, due to rain and no practices. Coach Hochgesang knew it was going to be a tough match, considering the team didn't practice. Before the match started, Ranger Nation recognized Alex Fischer and Brendon Gutgsell on Senior Night. Alex Fischer is the son of Doug and Andrea Fischer. Alex is a 4 year member of the tennis team and is a 3 year Varsity Letter winner. Alex plans to attend IU, ISU, or WKU to study Finance and Accounting. Coach Hochgesang also wanted to recognize Brendon Gutgsell because this would have been his senior year. Brendon's mom, Tracy, was able to come and accept her flowers and listen to Hochgesang give his speech. FP Nation and especially the Tennis team sure miss Brendon each and every day. # ForBG The Rangers have been on a losing streak and sadly that continued last night vs the Hatchets. FP lost to Washington 2-3 but battled. FP's 1 Singles, Miles Rea, had the task of playing an undefeated PAC player in Meredith for Washington. Miles struggled against the Sophomore's high level of forehand topspin. Rea was able to get one game in the first set, but struggled with unforced errors and double faults in the second set. Playing opponents like Meredith are only going to make Rea that much better. Forest Park's 2 Singles, Jace Brockman, was able to play one of his best matches of the season and get one of the two wins for the Rangers. Jace looked very confident in his strokes and it showed with all of his deep high topspin forehands and high level serves. Brockman was able to keep his composure and play his game. Coach was very happy and proud of the way the Freshman has bounced back throughout this season. The Ranger's 3 Singles, Jace Betz, was also tasked with playing against a Freshman. Washington's Skomp was very consistent in his strokes, and Betz struggle with Skomp's ball movement. Betz was able to get 3 games off of Skomp. Forest Park's upperclassmen and 1 Doubles team of Alex Fischer and Eli Brockman were able to get the second win for the Rangers in two sets. The experienced duo flew through the first set with ease winning 6-1, but then struggled in the second set. Finding themselves down 5-4 in the second set, the dynamic duo kicked it into gear and won the last 3 games to secure their 9th victory in PAC matches. Alex and Eli are 9-1 in PAC play and look to make their record 10-1 vs Gibson Southern on Thursday evening. Coach Hochgesang was pleased with the duo's lobs and serve placements. FP's 2 Doubles team, Clayton Roesner and Drew Fischer, struggled and the recent rainy days with no practices did not help the duo. Coach noticed no "pep" in their steps, no confidence in their games, and not much movement at the net. The duo kept it close in both sets, losing 4-6, but Coach Hochgesang thought that they let this match slip away. Scores vs Washington: 1 Singles : Miles Rea lost to J.
