On Saturday, the Lady Rangers welcomed the Northeast Dubois Jeeps to Best Home Furnishings Stadium for the IHSAA Sectional #47 Championship. The Lady Rangers wasted little time getting their first in the 2' courtesy of sophomore Lily Muller who collected a ball in the flank from Sydney Bettag and played a looping ball over the Lady Jeep Keeper. Despite asking questions often of the Jeeps' backline and maintaining the lion's share of possession, the Lady Rangers were unable to add to their lead, and the home side went into the break with one goal to the good. After halftime, the Lady Rangers came out poised and patient. After some tactical adjustments, the home side was able to double their advantage courtesy of sophomore Sophia Hubbs, who collected a ball from senior Anna Muller inside the 6-yard box for a far-bar finish. The Lady Jeeps were not out of it yet. They showed great determination and resolve as they were able to halve the deficit with 1:47 remaining in the contest. The Lady Rangers responded just 17 seconds later when freshman Ellie Meunier collected a ball and passed it to junior Paige Memmer who beat a defender and slotted it past the keeper for the final goal of the contest. The Lady Rangers (13-4) are back in action Thursday, October 16 for Match 5 of the IHSAA Class 1A Soccer Tournament Regional Semi-Final against Evansville Christian. This match is slated for a 6:00PM kick-off.
